Remotes are the simplest solution, giving quick access at the press of a button. They are easy to set up and clip onto a key ring. Proximity readers use key fobs and access cards to open gates, barriers and doors with a swipe or a touch. They can also be networked to keep a record of who is accessing each door. Intercoms can be wired or wireless. Wireless options include a system with a wireless handset (range up to 200 metres) and GSM intercoms, which use a SIM card for unlimited range and can call a mobile or landline - so you can answer and open the gate without being on site. Wired intercoms are reliable for places like a school reception, and wired video intercoms show you clearly who is calling. Induction loops and probes are common for exiting a site. Hidden under the road surface, they detect a vehicle much like a metal detector and trigger a gate, barrier or bollard to open.
